I am new to this forum. Although I have been reading it for a while. I really like K's and I've had probably 15 or so... ( through my shop, now retired, sort of) I also like streetfighters. My only real complaint with K's is weight. Take off 50 kilos and they go from good to terrific. ...But I have gone a bit further this time. I removed everything! All was going swimmingly, until I snipped the instrument panel wires. I used a GPS speedo, and a remote button ign switch, and made a (7) idiot light panel . OK, The neutral don't work , yet. But I found how to fix that. indicator lights, oil, alt., main beam. all ok. Still working on the low fuel light... BUT when I first started the thing after the dash mods. It would not start, It would fire but not run. Anyhow, check my work and find the coolant sensor unplugged. Fix that and It Runs!... Lovely , Up the road for a test, great, seat a bit hard but oh well I can live with that. Longer ride and hello? Engine got up to temp in traffic and I get a misfire just off idle, rev the engine somewhat, and it runs like a train. Let it cool down and the misfire has disappeared, warm it up for ten minutes and there it is again..... . It did not do this before I chopped the instruments off... I've been through all the K wiring diagrams that I have ( many! ) but can't figure out what I have done wrong.....I'm good at wiring and electrics generally.. I cut the loom open and removed all the ABS bits.. The bike ran really well after that. Right up to the time I cut the Instruments off...Any Ideas how removing instruments can trick the motronic ... I am NOT certain if it's too lean or rich. It feels too lean...but commonsense says it's too rich. ( starts well .... smooth until hot) cheers............... Geoffrey... PS If I knew how to add pics I would....some extra info. It's a K1100LT 9/1995 58000k's running perfectly one day- not the next (instrument amputation only ) Just added a plug check..Black plugs , so, too rich at 2000rpm? ok at 3000 ( no tacho)
