Hi Bricks riders,
I plan to be in Munich and Berlin in a first week of July.
Could you recommend some services, were I can repair my moto, if I would need so.
Also, is the any shops for k100 spare parts in these cities?

Hi VPutin,

If you travel keep a record of a few websites. www.motorworks.co.uk and www.motobins co.uk as both will mail parts anywhere. They are also very helpful on the phone.

I am not sure should I sign myself NKruschev or MGorbachov but you are very welcome here. Enjoy it. I would love to take my K to Moscow some time.

Make sure you get to the Allianz Stadium at Munich....its awesome. And the MercedesBenz Museum at Stuttgart.

Mr. VPutin, when I was in Munich the BMW headquarters was also there. I suspect it still is, and it can supply any spares you may need to purchase.

When I visited I bought some parts on the entry level (ground floor we call it in U.S.). That was some years ago. But I'm sure BMW makes it easy to spend your money there so it cannot be too hard to find the right location.
The museum is wonderful. There are many rare and wonderful machines on display.
Wish I had the means to return to Munchen!

If you have the means to keep in contact with the forum you will never be in trouble. Parts from www.motorworks.co.uk or www.motobins.co,uk will generally reach you in 2-3 days. Both are excellent. I have ordered on Tuesday and received on Thursday. There are many helpful members here and I am sure if you take a few spares you will be fine.

I do a lot of long trips and never yet had a problem.

It is more what you should do before you travel. Do a service [oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, new plugs, check all lubricants] and check your brake pads, tyres etc have plenty of life left in them.

Lots would say bring a spare clutch cable [car or bike that is wise], you can even have it threaded in place in case it breaks.  A spares pack with bulbs, fuses, tyre plug/seal/inflator cartridges, spark plug or two, some wire, a few wire connectors, a spare litre of oil [if you use any its €30-€40 for a 1 litre container in the motorway services]. Your fuel hoses must be good, if in doubt replace them. A 1 litre bottle of water is useful, first for thirst and second in case you need it. If you are on motorway remember services and fuel are very far apart so you should not let your available fuel drop below 50 miles/80km

There are lots of places to hide these parts. If you put in longer fuel hoses and move the earth from the tank you will be able to lift the back of the petrol tank at the roadside without disconnecting any hoses to get at them if you store them in the relay box.

You will always get help, having the parts is what makes it easy.

The K is very reliable and we do not see so very many of them letting someone down on a long journey.

I drove over to Budapest last year by car, round trip from home was 3,000 miles. I did the usual service etc before leaving and all was fine.

However I was aware of a saying, never do a major job just before you leave.

Two years ago I had timing belt replaced in the car. Garage forgot to but back the inner wheel arch liner. The bottom coolant hose, normally secured to it, was rubbing off the crankshaft pulley. I spotted it when I was changing the oil. I was able to cover over it and secure it while the garage sorted it out and replaced the hose.

A week before leaving for Budapest I noticed a very small amount of coolant on the thermostat housing. I decided not to change the seals, but brought the parts with me. It was fine, then I replaced the thermostat and the seals when I got home.

The K, once it is looked after, is very reliable.

I am hoping to do a K trip to Rome for September, distance for me is about 2,000km each way. I will follow the same things and quite confident of not having any problems.

You would be very welcome to come to Ireland. We meet up at times....

If you are going to leave that friend Mr Medvedev in charge you might not have a job when you get home.

He's quite far from "to be in charge" at a moment ))

My first Europe ride now is in the past)
5600 km from home-to-home, with no troubles, but change a front tire in Berlin, and lost license plate on the road.
Which bring me a few hours of nerving, police visiting and crossing 4 countries, boards and customs on a the bike with no plate.
Tired and impressed)

It was like we said. The K is reliable and did what you wanted. I hope you enjoyed it.

I wonder what the longest trip of the year would be? Why don't you start a post for it? It would be of interest to all of us.
