Those fuel lines perish and should be replaced after 10 years. If you do let them get perished the fuel is under pressure spraying out over a hot engine and exhaust. Not funny.
BMW here supply a 1m length quite reasonably so you know its the right one. As Charlie99 says make them longer enough to move the tank without undoing them. You will really appreciate the hassle it saves....like not needing to dismantle half the fairing every time you need to move it.
