Hi guys. We have recently been tasked to restore a friends 85 K100RT, so we thought it might be a good idea to join the forum.

Hi Ya Cam (that'll do coz the name is more a bowl of alpahbet soup) welcome to the forum.
Sean Saxon is a bit jealous of my K1100 LT. We'll get him back in the straight jacket soon and feed him his meds and he'll be OK.Hi Everybody! 652573

I had a metallic pink 100RT once. It was an ex police bike that had a really shitty blue paint job. A TAFE colleague agreed to paint it for me and I asked for a metallic red. He showed me some of the parts already finished and it was pink. He was really happy with the finish and it was free so what could I really say?

I ordered Mystik Red but the idiots double dosed on the pearl and it came out pink and when I started spraying I was assured it would come up correctly when I had more coats , when it cured, when mars burned up in earths atmosphere and when I said money back they claimed special mix but small claims court saw my side and they refunded saying Mystik red was not a colour they had on the computer and would not mix a new correct colour etc etc But I still have to go through all the shit of repainting.

Welcome Cam....... from not too far away. I have an 85 RT and it is a great machine.
I 'll offer my help in any way , recognising that I.m a novice but have had great help from these guys. My bike is blue but the forum members have insisted that it is purple. Working on an old black one now so there won't be that problem.
Good luck
RT

Yeah, you hit the nail on the head there in a few areas. If I were to buy that rig I'd throw away the topbox and panniers for a start...I believe in saving weight where you can...and with just a dog in the chair there is always room for tools and kit for travelling. I like the way mine performs the way it is...I have it set up to suit me.
I'd like to be able to just buy a K bike and make my own outfit....but there lies the problem with Tüv....getting it passed etc would be difficult as they are a bit stricter there.
I have also thought about shipping my current bike there...which would be great and the chair is on the right side ...which is the left. I suspect though, that when it came time for rego I'd not get it passed.
One thing's for sure.....Whatever I end up doing, Bella will make it all look cooler!

Sean.

Yeah Saxon I know about the Tuv etc. Back in the day I always admired the Wasp. Not that I know anything about sidecars
however being built for racing they seem like a good base for road work ??? Have to throw a brick in of course!
Have any Wasps been registered? Probably not many around and exxy?

Just realized this is not about Chairs sorry for hijack!

G'day Cam welcome and apologies,

Ghost

Ghost

For your info Ghost, their racing pedigree is why I bought Wasp forks, sub-frame and wheels for my K outfit.

Now back to the thread, Welcome cam!

Paul.
