Hello all. I just put the bike back together after replacing the throttle cable and I noticed some oil that spits out on the exhaust right where the collector is before going into the muffler. It also drips on the side kickstand. The bike also sputters a bit so I believe a cylinder is missing but I don't think the two would be related. Only that I've never had the problem before. The engine and transmission look to be dry and I can't quite seem to locate the leak because it's hard to see up there. Any ideas?

Is it gear oil or engine oil, you can tell by the smell.

I believe it's engine oil. Too thin to be gear oil and it doesn't have that smell

I didn't see anything on the backside of the engine leaking though

Its possible the oil is comming from the oil return drains which are on the under side of the head and it usually drips down onto the pipes a bit futher forward but may be running back along the block till it drips of above the colector. My wifes K75 is doing it at the moment and will need attention before we go away in september.

or is there a crack in the crankcase breather ? dripping down behind the coil packs ... then onto the exhaust ?
just a thought

The crankcase breather is cracked but not dripping enough to cause this. I have a replacement hose to fix it though
