just picked up an old Aussie mag on Ebay, two wheels from 1984.



was described as a K100RS related item , I'm figuring it may be a part of the article on sports tourers, and by the looks of it , it may also have an article on the RT.
Northern NSW is a good topic too.
I'm a bit vague on the RT production , when did they first arrive in Australia?
My RT is an 87' ,

The first K100 appeared in September 83 followed very shortly after but the RS (early 84, I think there are some around with a production date of 11/83) and I think the RT hit the aussie streets about July-August 84.
I remember going down to Melbourne in Christmas 84 on the Z1300 and near west Wylong an RS came past me like I was standing still and I wasnt going to have any of that so I buzzed him at about 130mph and didnt see him again.

hmm .... in 84' was that Mr Klompy,
you would have been in your element there on the 1300.

In that era you didnt see many Ks as the "real" BMW was still the mighty boxer or as we used to stir the owners"boxer $h*t".
I reckon that far more of the Ks survived percentage wise than anything else.

The easy availability of ex-Police K100RTs certainly helped to make them a fairly popular bike. Quote "Ks are like arseholes, everyones got one"

my mate bought a naked K100 in 1983 and I had the pleasure of helping him push it when it broke down with computer issues very early on.....got quite heavy after 3-4 kms...

I've just dug out a 1992 sales brochure and price list.

Some of the prices are eye-watering. The complete radio cassette set-up is over 700 quid!
