Just about to change fork oil first time for me with the BM and wondering if anyone has mixed their own. I've used previously 10/30 motor oil 50/50 with transmission fluid grade is around 10 I think would just trans oil be ok as I've used this many time in XS 1100 bikes with no trouble Coopz

The BMWs are very touchy on the grade of oil used in the forks. I have used auto trans fluid but it comes up a bit hard. Most of the guys here seem to use the fork oil from bike shops and 5 or 7.5 and some use 10 it is just a matter of what feels right.

Hi there, for pothole infested roads 10 is too hard and ATF will bend your rims, 5 works fine.
Best regards

I used 7.5 as I was not sure what to put in, but I am happy with it.

Sounds like your roads are as bad as the roads here.

I tried 10 and changed to 5. It seems to work for me.

Running 7.5 in my RT.  Had 15wt in the fork and it was like having no suspension.

It should be noted that fork oil weight ratings are not standardized or regulated.  That is to say there is a very wide range within a specific weight.  One brand of 10wt may be heavier than another.

I'm using Motul 10W in my Basic/2 and it seems a good balance for me.

7,5 for the 75
10 for the 100
5,0 : to be used for salad only

for final adjustment:  +/-  10-20ml

best results with that if "comfort" is still wanted

Using 10W on my RS too.

First time I put new oil in the forks, I was still a bit daft, and filled 'm right up. Next I rode out trough the gutter into the street and had a bit of an ego-dent as my father stared laughing out loud... 🤡 Rolling Eyes

=> measure! It works best with a big syringe, since the oil doesn't stick in it, and you don't pour it all over the garage floor.
