Has anyone tried an external high pressure fuel pump? I was wondering if the cost savings, ease of repair/trouble shooting, and slight increase in fuel storage would be worth the time trying. Installation of a petcock would eliminate any problems such as, fuel pickup/priming trouble? Any thoughts?

Hi Steve,
I have seen discussion on this before elsewhere and the general conclusion was it was more trouble than it was worth. There have also been people suggest relocating the fuel filter as well for ease of replacement and extra capacity. No doubt it could be done but too much work for me and the pump needs to be restrained so it does not wander around due to braking and acceleration forces which could cause the connection wires to break.
Corrosion might be a problem too as the pump is meant to be submerged but a totally different pump might be OK.
