Hello All,

Great tip here from a old guy,

I have just completed rebuilding the K100RS and last night I finished her off with new BMW emblems.

This old guy told me once that the best way to remove them without scratching the paint work is to use fishing line, get the line just under the emblem then use a sawing action and before I knew off they were not a scratch to be seen. Replacing Emblems / Badges Icon_cheers

What a difference new BMW emblems make

The most expensive part of my rebuild has been taking the wife out for dinner.

First a link:
Very good information about BMW badges

Second, in my searchs for badges for my restoration, I've concluded that they are going to be expensive. BMW sets the price and most dealers must meet that price. Any BMW dealership, car or motorcycle, can source the badges in the link above. Car badges will be much cheaper than motorcycle badges and work just as well. The 60mm badge for the tailpiece is best to use 51-14-8-164-924 (a 2-1/4" in diameter ~ 57 mm 3D style badge which is the trunk emblem from BMW 318ic, 323ic, 325ic, 328ic 1992-onwards -- $16.00 US @www.hdrogers.com/bmw2.html. 53-53-2-325-181 60 mm (2-3/8") stick-on is another possibility at a lower price point.

The 70mm stickon type has various partnumbers 16-11-2-325-179 , 36-13-6-758-569, etc. See the link above. Numerous Ebay sellers have these stickon badges for about $6.00 US each. They are not durable because they consist of mylar on aluminum. I picked up a pair from a German Ebay dealer last year for $20 shipped to Canada.

Have you tried motorworks? got mine from there and they do the pannier ones too.

To remove the old ones i used a hair drier and heated them up, no residue and they came off easy.

Went searching and found these:
68mm embossed badge
60mm embossed badge

Each are $2.99 for a set of four. Don't know the quality but not much to loose if they are poor quality.

When rebuilding my K100, I bought some on Ebay and they look like they were original. In fact they were so good that I ordered an extra 16 of them for friends owning a BMW. At the time the cost was about $3.00 each.
