probably would be good IF we had a double sided swing arm rod ....also our bikes are over 200 kilos

I did think 200kg might be pushing it a bit as I think bike is 300....at least.

I use front wheel chocks to park my bikes at home... they are great.

Ned where did you get the front wheel chocks of which you speak? and what do they look like?.

I have one for each bike. Got them through Ebay from a local supplier for around $180 delivered. I like them because I simply drive the bike into one and park. No need for kick or centre stands, and they save me lots of space because bikes do not have to lean the bike nor do I have to get off to use the centre stand. Also, good for routine servicing.

BTW if you are thinking of one, don't get a narrow one. The wider the more stable they are.

Rod , I also , like Ned purchased the front chock ( mine from Aldi , they sold like Hotcakes),
I have only recently, through Saxons Spares and Klompenstaanders assistance fitted a replacement centre stand.
however whilst sizing up the chair on the side , I used the front chock ,



finding it OK but very nervous with its sideways instability, more due to movement of the wheel in the cradle.
The LT weighing in at approx 283kg . slightly heavier than the RT and RS.
And as I suffer from a permanent neck injury, found it difficult to remove the bike from the stand.
when pulling backwards, the forks extend making for an awkward roll off the bottom cradle.
other members with better physical ability may find this manouvre easy.
Neds would be of a superior quality, and there are some more specific to either K100 or tread size .
Check them out, might be the way for you to go.

My best recommendation though is to find yourself a Klompenstaander..



they are cheap , effective and friendly to use.

Rod, I have a carport which is around 4m wide. I am in a need of space to fit all the bikes and gear and the front wheel stand saves me a lot of space as I simply drive into it and don't use side or centre stands. As the bike always remind vertical I don't need much space to park, a width of the bike is plenty.

Ed brought up a few concerns:
1. sideways instability: never had a problem. The bike is stable and I can mount by climbing on the bike in the riding position by using the foot peg as a first step. I also rocked the bike and was never able to destabilise it.
2. pull back: Depends on the bike. I get on the bike and use my legs and a rocking motion to pull back. It works fine and I always have my feet on the ground so stability is not the problem.

If you decide to get one look for:
a. V shape vertical support that grabs the tyre. This is a primary stability control device.
b. the bottom channel rocks as the wheel goes over it. On parking that forces the wheel forward by the weight of the bike and locks the bike in vertical position.
c. check that the rocking channel is made to accept the wheel diameter else the bike will not be securely held, and
d. unless u are going to bolt it down, get one that has sturdy and wide footprint.

if I had a theft problem I love one of these with a lock, but my place is hard to get to so I don't need it.:

I'm with you on this one Ned,
My physical ability is compromised by a couple of factors.
Short legs- when the front is in the chock I loose the ability to plant a full foot on the ground to push back with.
Fairly much the same as popping it up on the centre stand , the seat height is raised a couple of inches.
I might need to also check my adjustments for the roll back , Good vid ,thanks.

Permanent nerve and muscle damage to my neck ( c6, c7) , any tugging on the handle bars provides aggravation to the nerve,

and once in the chock I found there was a good 6 inch swing either side,due to the tyre flexing and being the cautious type, was worried about the possibility of it falling on the kids, if they bumped it.
other than that I think you were on the right course , I certainly wouldn't have purchased one without seeing it's merits.

If any thing , if I become too much of a worry wart ,
I'll attach a couple of straps to the handle bars , down to the anchor points on the chock.Hopefully not.

I am about 6'1" so have little problems with feet on ground, but I find that K100rs is not as easy to roll back as K12 or the Goldwing (which is lowered by 1"). I tried to pull the bike back without mounting it and I find that very uncomfortable and fear that it may topple over once it clears the chock.

Yes, the vid is a nice advertisement, but it also shows how useful the thing can be. BTW here is a cheap unit on Ebay which may be of interest. Being aluminium it eliminates corrosion problems. I love one but at the moment I just don't need one.

Anyone with spinal injuries has my sympathy. Years ago, I've spent 2 weeks in a spinal ward, 10 of which on my back without being able to move at all. Bloody hard, frustrating and painful. I did my L2 and L3 .

This is the Kulprit for the original injury, but I still hold no grudge. Snapped when I first rego'd the bike.

Rod, Horsepower.ie are very near you in longwwod, near Enfield. I can recommend their service as I bought my centre stand dolly from them and when the original was damaged in transit they replaced it quickly and without question.

Bugger ... I hate centre stands ... did I ever mention that

I like to start with the vertical setting... try one or two notches higher. That
will hold the wheel better and also move it back a tad... it may help
with the roll back effort. As for the horizontal setting, all that is required is that the axle centre point needs to pass the cradle pivot point to allow the cradle to push the wheel forward using the bike weight as it rocks into the forward position.

I am around 90% these days. Had very good care in the St George Hospital spinal ward. Let me tell you after spending time there and observing other patients I consider my self very, very lucky.

Yes, I also thought about what colour BMW may be ... you can always stick on a BMW badge

In the US and Canada, Baxley makes a wheel chock that is very stable. This Youtube video shows the stand in use:


The pivoting tire clamps grab the sidewalls and lock the tire to the stand by the weight of the bike. This feature is what provides the majority of the stability of the stand. I own a cheap knock-off of the Baxley (similar to what Rod posted above) and, even tough it imitates the basic features of the Baxley, it doesn't emulate this tire clamping feature. Consequently, the motorcycle is unstable in the stand and it is possible to rock the bike side to side. I have to be very careful to drive the bike onto the stand exactly upright and be sure not to apply any side load. If left alone, the motorcycle is safe.

I think I'll take my chances with the local one.
