Sunday afternoon my LT went out on the road for the first time in 8 years. Originally (as far as I know) it last cruised the hills and curves in Swaziland in 2004. Well that was the last time it was licensed. I took it for a quick illegal (no roadworthy certificate) run around the block to test the brakes. Aggggggggggggg!! I replaced the kit in the rear master cylinder and by-passed the ABS unit as there is no controller. Brakes all mushy and rancid.
Yesterday got a pressure bleeder and made an adaptor plate for the front master cylinder to seal and pressurise. I pumped out a whack of grotty muck till clean. Need new pads all round so standing awaiting new pads front and rear. For the rest the bike is responsive and great. I will need to do the forks as they are very soft but all-in-all great.
Got to get every thing right for the roadworthy test (MOT for those in the UK and elsewhere) and as soon as that is done I will get my licence. The bike is already registered in my name just waiting for the test.
