I'm a bike nut, always was, always will be................
If I have a bike I LOVE and see yours, I LOVE your more!
2011, my wife and I were riding home from seeing the 9/11 memorail in Pa. on Interstate 81 on my '91 Harley Ultra, felt the front end "feel funny" SH**!!! a flat tire!!!!
I was in the passing lane at the time, a bit (well quite a bit) over the speed limit when I knew we were in trouble.
Long story short, almost saved it (F**king rumble strips!!), went down 4 broken ribs, concusion, (was wearing a armour jacket full face helmet and boots), she had taken her body armour jacket off-4 broekn ribs a good road rash on her arm.
Harley wasn't damaged bad, get it home fixed it but was "nervous" everytime I got on it, (what's that sound?? Front end feels funny?)
She told me she had been lucky no more motorcycle for her.
"OK I'll sell the Harley always wanted a BMW GS".
Picked up a '95 GS- love it!
So now I'm a BMW nut!!
To the reason I'm here.........................
Local for sale 1987 K100LT $1100
hasn't been started in 5 years. 81000 miles
looks good in pics.
Owner states fuel pump frozen, melted the wires at battery trying to jump start it, (wires touched frame)
Found lots of info on what to look for, check.
I can spin a pretty mean wrench, so fixing it isn't scary.
Was wondering if it was worth it???
Thanks
Joe

Joe don't be surprised , but we will all say " of course it is worth it" we are K nuts after all.
Those of us with an LT will definitely agree with you.
The price, mileage and condition suggested, sounds more than fair, Rick G and I were showing some recent LT's in Oz up for grabs,
higher mileage and price, given that our dollar is stronger than yours at the moment.
So if it is only minor electrics and a pump to work on , then certainly give it a look. you may be pleasantly surprised.
What ever you do don't barter too anxiously, as much as we love our K's, there are times ( especially when purchasing) that you need to play down the great advantages of the MIGHTY K. seller beware!
If you don't mind throwing around the odd spanner, you will enjoy a K bike.
By the way welcome to the "Knuthouse",keep us informed of you decision and good luck.

If the body work is OK then yes it is worth that but if it is cracked and broken then get the price down as the panels are starting to get a bit pricey especially good ones.

At just over a grand, GO FOR IT!

Of course in the long run you will spend plenty more to get the bike right for you. All that effort and money is completely forgotten when you are riding these beautiful machines. You will find people in cars speeding up to get a good look at it, other bike riders will give you thumbs up, people will walk around it parked in the street, women will fall at your feet when you are dismounting it. Ok Ok maybe that last bit is a stretch but hey we are Kay nuts!
