So while riding round without a fairing you get your fair share of roadkill. Not the big furry ones but the little flying ones.
I have noticed two types.
Tink bugs. These little buggers fly at your helmet, go 'tink' and are never seen again.
Splat bugs. These dirty little critters take delight in smearing themselves across the middle of the visor. Often leaving a wing or leg to flap and flitter in the wind.

Are these the same bugs? Could it just be the angle that they attack your face?
Quite often you get to see the Splat bug just before it hits the visor. I have never seen a tink bug attack. Only heard the result of their sudden change of direction.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Has anyone recognised any different types of helmet bugs?

The ones that get in just under the chin guard are almost always a spikey grasshoppery thing, and the radiator core seems to wear the same insect (a leg, wing and baked gizzards).

Don't know about tink bugs.
Do know about 80 mph bumblebees, (about the size of the last joint of one's pinky finger), smacking right between the running lights, just over the sunglasses when wearing a half helmet.
Those are. "Ow! S***!", bugs.

Hit a Kamikazi sparrow once...was wearing an ARAI Astrovent with those nice vents in the mouthgaurd....thats where the internals of the sparrow went and its feet were pedalling and dancing across the plexiglass which was fortunately closed.

The helmet had bad breath for months....but I did imagine how things would have been different had I been wearing my open face....
