Now I've got two of them to spline lube each year, a few bits of scrap iron later and the job should be a bit easier. The two cross pieces bolt on so that they can be swung down one either side and the whole contraption can be stored flat against the wall. I guess it could be made a bit narrower and certainly it's going to get a coat of black Hammerite when I've finished the job. The trolley under the engine originally held a Dewar jar and was built to carry big-block Guzzi engines at just the right height to reassemble the frame round. All it needed was a chunk of 20mm oak floorboard stuffed under the back of the K100 sump to hold the engine in place when the gearbox comes off.

A good idea, though I might put some locking castors on the bottom and attach the frame to the top bar with some (white) cable ties to make the whole thing movable.

I'm not sure that white cable ties will do the job. Black ones might, but blue would be even better. Silver ones are no good at all - they can't even hold the hubcaps on my wife's car.

I did have some idea of putting a top clamp on but I hadn't considered castors. I'll look into that before I paint it.

I wouldn't bother. There's some form of timewarp in there that means you can't see the bike even though it's still there.
