Whats heavier;

1. A tonne of lead or

2. A tonne of feathers?

Interestingly I was asked for the 11 Plus exam a lot of years ago if you drop a pound of lead and a pound of feathers off the top of a tall building which one reaches the ground first. I answered the pound of lead and was marked wrong because said the examiner they both reach the ground at the same time because they weigh the same. Now that betrays astounding lack of knowledge of the physics of falling objects because Dalton's famous guinea and feather experiment in an evacuated glass tube shows they both fall at the same rate regardless of weight but the density of lead is so much greater the lead presents less wind resistance than the feathers so the effect of the drag would make the lead reach the ground faster. If the feathers were not constrained into a single block they could take some minutes to reach the ground given the up-currents that flow up the face of many tall buildings.

If the weights were both contained in identical boxes they would both hit at the same time...but a tonne of feathers would represent a large area for wind resistance (sans box)....but surprisingly there are some who think 1 ton of lead is heavier than the same weight of feathers...lol

You got it wrong!
The lead travels at 80MPH and it will take 58min to reach the ground if the building is 1 mile high.
The feathers travel at 40MPH, and considering that the blond can run at 8MPH, it will take approximately 3 min to reach the ground.
