Been lurking for a while and finally decided to register, when I saw the introduction from Ringfad.
It certainly is a small world. What originated as a request to borrow a size 10 ring spanner from a visiting computer repairman, turned into a purchase of a '87 K100 RS SE. Then about 20 years later, run into him on a K100 forum.
Anyway, after many miles on the K, sold it after being rear-ended. Always sorry I did that, it was one of the two bikes I'm sorry I sold (the other being an XT350).
Like most K owners, I couldn't stay away forever, and picked up a 87K100RS in blue. I've had it for 12 years and due to marriage, house purchase, house sale and further house purchase, and boat building, it hasn't been used much in recent years. Once Irene, my wife, discovered how many pairs of shoes fit into a car boot, she wasn't too keen on taking the bike anymore. That has changed recently and she is now game again for bike holidays.
My other bike is a transalp 700. Absolutely love the bike, but Irene isn't interested. She prefers the comfort of the K. Strangely I love the V-twin, but have no interest in BMW boxers. I dallied for a while with a R80GS, but it was like riding a water buffalo. Sold it soon afterwards and picked up a VFR750 (nice but bland). Sold that to buy the second K100RS
At the moment the K is sitting in my dads shed, awaiting a full overhaul. This is detailed on a diffent thread.
Looking forwards to lots of fun on the forum.
