Replacing old rubber brake lines with Venhill braded - using Venhill domed union bolts.

Venhill say the torque for their bolts is 15Nm.
The Clymer manual says 6-8Nm.

?

Also, will the torque figure be the same for the MC, 3-way splitter and calipers?

I ask because the splitter is corroded and looks fragile.

Cheers.

Hi Bonzo, Take a step back, Ignore the Torque settings on the Splitter what you need is a good seal, so, clean easy threads are a must ,Run the unions in finger tight to the natural stop then just a NIP with the spanner. You have the FEEL on the spanner that makes it safer. You are looking for a dry joint irrespective of the Torque setting. This is how a Rd side repair would be done successfully scratch Help me out with brake line banjo torque settings? 652573

I have put two Dowty washers on my master cyclinder banjo today. just pinched them up and the union has stayed dry through a full system flush and 4 hours with the lever taped back.
Given that copper crush, ali crush and dowtys are all workable options with different compression rates its difficult to see how any universal torque setting would result in  better than ‘similar’ outcomes.
