Needed to change my oil in a hurry. The only local shop likely to be of any use was a Halfords.

They do a filter, CHAMPION C301, price £6.99. It does say on it that it's for BMWs. In the motorbike section.

They also do a tool that fits so you can remove the filter without needing to remove more than the 3 allen screws covering the filter (i.e. not having to remove the next cover and use a strap tool). You just need to have the gumption to push out the central rivet to expose the 3/8 square drive hole. Price £7.99

They fit. The tool and the filter.
If I find a problem (I haven't driven off on it yet, I have a lot more work to do on my 28-year-old, but wonderful bike, I will let you know. I realise there may be more things involved (non-returns etc).

I know little of m/bikes, tho 54, I've always ridden rather than worked on them, so if I'm wrong or misleading people then please slap me down.

A good ides is to put a post in the new members section and tell us about yourself and of course your bike with pics of the bike.
That filter is on my list of filters that work on a K. Most of the aftermarket filters are OK although some do have different values on the bypass valves which really only take effect when the filter is getting dirty and at the end of its life. I change my filter and oil every 5000km which should be often enough to keep the filter working well.

One thing to watch out for is cheap filters which have low bypass pressures which can mean for much of the time you are circulating unfiltered oil as the bypass valve is doing just that bypassing the filter.

yes, that is true. From memory most common filters are set to by pass around 12-15 psi... one atmosphere. I seem to remember that Mann (?sp) is set above 20 psi. Someone may want to confirm this.

Having said all of that, I use the local brand Ryco (Z418?) because it is easy available and fits K100 well. http://www.rycofilters.com.au/catalogue/product/part/Z418

Champion's C301 is a direct replacement part number for the OEM oil filter for all early K75/100/1100/1200 (but not across-the-frame 1200s) and Oilheads of 1100 and 1150 displacement.
