Hello All,



think I may have found the source of 1 of the noises I have on my k100rt.

The front brake pads rattle around.

question is : is there meant to be some sort of anti-rattle backing plate that goes between the brake pads and the caliper pistons?



and do you of you have a PDF of some sorts for the engineering drawing of the C-spanner used for adjusting the rear shock damping? I would like to get one made up.

For the rattle try a bit of copper based grease between the pad backing plate and piston.

Its not correct in either the enlarged or small but the small one is about 95%.
All you need is a piece of metal strip with qa bend at the top to sit on the gearbox filler and big enough so it wont fall down the hole. That's all the K1100 has.

Hi RSmith

Dont know what year K100 you have but it might be worth noticing that on the 4v model with floating disc there can be a quite some noise from the disc itself when the bike is handled at slow speed. The noise will dissapear as soon as the bike is on the move though, but when you manouver it around in the driveway there can be some noise. This noise is NOT related to the brake pads.

Just a thought :-)

it is a 1984.



you are right I only hear it at low speeds, but have noticed if I pull on the front brake slightly to "load" the pads the noise is gone.

If you want an original spanner they are still available from the usual suspects, however not every aftermarket shock uses the same.....

It`s also reinforced rubber sheets with adhesive back available for this use,
ask in a automotive parts supplier store.

yes that is a good idea- I was just worried if it moves as a result of the glue melting as a result of the brakes getting hot it would make the brake pad get stuck.



I will give that a go.
