went to start my motorcycle for the first time the spring. Battery was dead so I took it out and charge kit. Had it teste and the battery is good. With the battery reinstalled noW it makes gay funny noise when the starter is compressed. All the lights and accessories seem to be working. The noise seems To be coming from The gas Tank which I will assume is The fuel pump. I do not know much about fixing motorcycles and the nearest bmw dealership is 300 miles away. Any help would be greAtly AppreciAted. EvEry 30 or so prEssing thE starter button or with a littlE timE gonE by it sounds like it's turning over with the starter is engaging. And the second fuse from the bottom is blown.

Hello, I think you cant start with that fuse (second from bottom) blown. Fuel pump is on that fuse. Change it (7,5 A) and try again. Are you shure battery is good. What is voltage (12,8 at least needed)

I had a similar problem after my K 100 LT not being used for a long time. Fuse was OK, but fuel pump died - most probably it sucked in pieces of rubber from the vibration damper that holds it, which disintegrated - turned into a black sticky mass. Instead of expensive original BMW's, by friend's advice I installed much cheaper pump for some Opel (English-speaking countries: Vauxhall)/Audi/Mercedes cars. Local price: about 35 €

As others also have mentioned, it seems like you got a fuel pump problem.

Here is some info about aftermarket ones.

You also have to empty and clean out the fuel tank, as it`s probably now contains disintegrated rubber.

Speaking about aftermarket pumps: Both European brands that I mentioned, Opel and Vauxhall, belong to the General Motors concern, and as much as I know, some of their cars were sold in the USA under GM's brand names there. So one just needs to see how Opel Kadett and Vauxhall Viva were called there... Their pump does give slightly higher pressure (3,0 bar instead of original 2,5), but the valve regulates that.
