Joe, you must remove side panels, than release computer box under the tool box on the right side, then remove computer cover and computer from left side. After that you can remove tool box and you on the upper side of battery.
Battery is hold on place by two long screws.

Regards

Just one piece of advice, disconnet the two terminals before removing the long screws that hold the battery in place. Its easy to short it out when you are removing the metal palte across the top of the battery.

The coolant reservoir is also held in place by the metal plate over the battery, its is not screwed in anywhere so it will move but dont worry.

¡El diablo está en los detalles! (The Devil is in the details!):

Remove the sidepanels (dependent upon which model/attachment points your motorbike has), then the teeny, tiny Phillips head screw which holds the ECU connector to the ECU on the left hand side - forward end - after first removing the rectangular plastic cover from the ECU. Take a swig of a cold, frosty beer. Then, inside the tooltray, depress the clearly visible metal tab, which you can see through a 10mm hole in the plastic, with a flat blade screwdriver, whilst simultaneously pulling gently on the ECU connector to release it. Take a drag on your ciggy. Then lift the tooltray out through the frame rails being careful not to lose the four, circular rubber "machine gun barrel" mounts - of which there are actually six, but only four on the tooltray. Scratch your backside. Push your glasses back up your nose. The battery is now easily accessible.

Someone mentioned disconnecting the battery leads. The earth lead attaches to the gearbox case below the battery on the left hand side. This will suffice before you begin the ECU/tooltray then battery removal. Stand back and admire your work.

I did mention remove both connections. If only the earth is removed it is possible if you are using an uninsulated screwdriver to then earth the electrical system accidentally when removing the metal plate over the battery. I know because I did it. If you remove both connections then this does not happen. If you are taking out the battery they both have to come off anyway.

I am not sure mine is standard but a philips screwdriver opens both from the left side [the right hand one cannot be opened from the right because of the coolant expansion tank bottle.] Reaching from the left side across to the positive which is on the right with an uninsulated screwdriver leaves you very close to the earth terminal and the frame.
