I purchased this bike with a salvage title about 3 months ago. The bike was damaged quite early in its life and had bounced around between four other owners. I'm the 5th. I took off 1991 code dated tires.
The bike runs true - no wobbles.
I took off an aftermarket exhaust and replaced it with stock.
I've replaced most of the rubber, repaired the fairing, replaced the radiator, greased all splines, balanced TBs, adjusted the valves and with a set of new tires, she's ready to go. All fluids replaced.
The panniers were rattle can painted to match the bike and fairing, ditto top box.
Fairing is a Pichler PK2

Thebottle is an agricultural fitting found on tractors to hold documents.
It holds a 33 oz MSR fuel bottle (with pump fitted) perfectly.

Just a bit of useless info; the Pichler PK1 was priced at £535 in 1989 (UK). It was never a cheap option but does look good in white.

I don't often have the need for those - the orange decor seems to help to keep drivers away from my tail section.
I think that the brighter rear end is worth about 30ft more gap (usually).

My garb is very similar.
I don a High-vis jacket and helmet.
I've seen a few M/C accidents with the all-black Harley riders - one guy and his wife both lost legs to a 'T' bone accident - both wearing black on a dark bike.

I've a hi-viz jacket and I found this tape on Ebay, it's for recovery vehicles I think.

Apparently the 'battenberg' squares of colour pattern is one of the most easily seen which is why the police here now use it.

Yeah 88, it's strange if you start reading about Hi Viz and what is effective you start to arrive at the same conclusions the police did years so, hi viz jacket, white helmet etc; the battenberg is pretty visible in the day as well as at night which swung it for me. Combined with an off-white bike drivers do tend to show a bit of respect - which can't be a bad thing! That said I'm under no illusion it makes a massive difference to many drivers - police have accidents like everyone else. There 's a proportion of drivers and apparently the stuff I read said middle aged men are particularly prone to this, who just don't see bikes because they are not looking for them (and their brains are trained in a certain way by that age - like mine). I wonder if, in the UK and other temperate climates at least the seasonality of biking makes things worse; the fact that drivers are just not looking for bikes half the year and if you're not looking for something you tend not to see it. I'd speculate that if there were a lot more bikes on the road and/or we rode all year the accident/mile rate might fall?
