[img][/img]What a wonderfull find your K Bike Forum has been for me. I have owned BMW bikes since 1982 my first being a 1982 R100RS ,1960 R50 ,1967 R50. I had the privelage of buying a brand new Baja Red K100RT in 1984. In 2002 the K had only done 12,000Km when I sold my other bikes as my wife and I moved into a retirement village and space was limited. At the moment the K has now done 116,000Km .I have done all the services and maintenance using the Hines manual . It has only been to the BMW agent once for recalls ,once for valve adjustment which they said was not needed and the last time at 112,000Km for the auxillary drive shaft to be re-furbished and that turned out to be a nightmare. They accidently let the bike fall off the work bench causing extensive fairing damage. It took 4 months to find parts and re-spray But alls well that ends well and she back to as good as new.
I am carefully going through the various have to do's and maintenance tips on the Forum and have made a list of what has to be done NOW (Spline Lube) and then the less urgent maintenance. I have not been able to trace Honda Moly Lube in South Africa .Honda agents did not seem to know about it . Have been advised to use Spanjaardt CV Joint Grease or Copper Slip. ANY COMMENTS ?
Thanks for the Great Effort that has gone into compiling this Forum
