Hi Guys,
Although I registered in April '09, I never did introduce myself and say hello here so........
Another UK guy
Originally from Liverpool, but worked in various parts of the UK, now living in a small village in Northamptonshire. Sort of retired, since our design and development group was closed down and moved to Italy and China. Nearly 40 years in the Telecomms industry, but currently helping out a car racing team, great fun and no stress!!
Purchased my first BMW (gold R100RS) in 1978. It has covered over 200,000 miles, and still has a home in my garage. Other bikes alongside it are 1979 R80/7, 1994 K1100LT, and 2001 R1150RT, 1959 Royal Enfield Constellation, and an MZ125. I gave the MZ a home when a friend got divorced.
For the last 7 years, I have been the administrator of the UK BMW Club's Tool Hire Facility, so have loads of special tools for models from the post /5 Boxer, through to the R1200 series. It's a way of putting something back into the hobby I have enjoyed since starting my riding on a Vespa 150 scooter in 1970.
For 30 years, my partner Sylvia and I have toured extensively in the UK, Europe, and even managed to borrow a BMW when visiting South Africa. This time five years ago we were in Sydney for a few days, before flying to Christchurch were we had arranged to hired a bike (BMW R1150RT) for a three week trip around New Zealand, now there's a place I would go back to.
This is a great forum, and hats off to Crazy Frog for all the hard work in creating it, and of course to all the forum members for sharing their wisdom
Mike
