I finally got around to fitting my new topbox today. Really interested to hear what people think about it.

Eighty euro for the box and about fifteen for the hinges, locks and mounting brackets.

I'm NOT (edit) a particularly big bloke yet when I look in the mirrors I can barely see it.

It is supporting the wall.......I needed this size to take my work briefcase or my helmet.

For cca 200 pounds you can buy 50 liter topbox which sits into K original rack. Made for K. Motobins deals with it (hepco becker). I have it for few years and its good for big laptop and a lot of things. Enough place for two integral helmets.

I dont like your box. Doesnt fit with RS

I had the same problem fitting my wide screen laptop if I wanted to use the bike for work.
I went the opposite way. I kept the Givi top case and bought a 12" laptop just for taking on the bike. Very Happy

Sorry but I have to agree with nino - the box may be practical and suit your requirements but it totally looks out of place on your RS - sorry Shocked

It's got a helluva rear overhang EM. I'd be concerned about truckers and high seated drivers seeing your brake light in traffic. They don't need much excuse to blame you for missing it.
I use a soft laptop bag which fits the side panniers, think it's a 15" screen but the corners of the bag squash in. I'd love to be able to box my lid when the bike is parked but find the 50lt box too expensive. I've been eyeballing the Givi ones in my local bike shop, they seem good value.

www.siebenrock.de sells 50 liter topbox for all K series for 189 euro. Motorworks sells 45 ltr for 110 pounds. I bought from siebenrock.

Thanks for all the comments. The box was originally built for my 1990 GS but when the 45 litre Kappa box starting leaking I decided it was time to replace it. The length, bredth and height are the same for both boxes, unfortunately the lovely curves of the Kappa greatly reduce it's usability when compared to the Pizza box. The overhang is also the same on the 2 boxes.

In relation to the visibility for high seated drivers behind, it isn't anywhere near as bad as it looks in the picture.

And of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder or should that be beerholder

Thanks for the link Nino.

The Siebenrock (or seven rocks in English) topbox is the best fit for the K bike. This is a big box with a capacity of 50 liters (or 13.20 US gallons) and can store a lot of beer. Very Happy
The difference with Givi's and others is that it has an indentation for the seat cowl and doesn't look as humongous as others. it sits a lot lower, and the look of the bike is not compromised.
To my knowledge, Siebenrock are the only one making something specifically for the K bike (other than Bring My Wallet).

Hmm, that Siebenrock box is not going to win many beauty contests either, but the mounting system is very clever.

I just bought a pair of brand new Krauser K2 panniers off eBay so I can fit the laptop in the panniers instead of the top box. Otherwise I have to keep the top box on all the time. The laptop does fit neatly in my top box with purpose made room for a Claret alongside and some A3 size papers on top. Absolutely perfect for a day's work.
