The post from my fellow Canuck in Ottawa has prompted me to introduce myself. Earlier this year I "inherited" a 1986 K100 RT one owner with 14,000 km. It had been started briefly about 3 years ago and prior to that it was more than 10 years since it ran. Prior to starting and riding it myself, I researched extensively on the internet (but for some reason only recently found this forum), serviced and went over the bike carefully. In a cloud of blue smoke that you all seem to be familiar with, I was riding again. What a joy! I have been riding daily for the last couple of months now after >30 years since my last bike. I replaced the hard as rock, cracked sidewall tires, fiddled with the exhaust heat shield, numerous other little issues but it's cool. I'm finding all the great solutions you have posted and really appreciate them. Thanks!
