I have an early K100RS. I have recently had it serviced twice but the problem remains. It never happens when the mechanic has it of course.

The problem is that it runs beautifully, except that sparatically after i sit at lights etc and let it idle for a little bit when i go to take off it seems to flood and stall. There is never any indication that it is about to happen. I could be wrong and it starves for fuel and stalls but either way not good.

Anyone able to give me any ideas??

I have checked the fuel filter and it seems to be fine.

Good morning Scorn ; I'll at least get this process started.

When it stalls what does it take to restart? Fuel filter seems fine? If any doubt replace it. Does it happen more on the cold side, or more warmed up? Also check for vacuum leaks. Good luck!

hiya scorn ....

flood or starve ?

could be all sorts of things ....like fuel presure regulator ....water in tank ...cracked fuel hose ...blocked breather tube ..faulty plug leads ...faulty --leaking engine breather to plenum tube ...rubbers on throttle bodies leaking air ...

lots of posts in here about similar issues ....have a look around with the search tool

good to see another queenslander around

The first thing I would check for crazy idling is a vacuum leak. Especially from the hose that connects the airfilter housing and plenum.

If you got a leak here, it still would be able to idle, but nothing above that.
But this is also depending on how big the leak is.

I have checked the fuel filter and it seems to be fine.

I have a similar issue. The bike runs fine, but when it gets hot, it falls off idle when standing and I have to 'blip' the throttle to keep the engine running.

I've replaced all fuel lines, pump, filters and cap.

I'm replacing the whole fuel delivery system as it's 25 years old - but I'm doing it in stages so that I know what fixed the issue. I've fixed some broken parts in the system, but the problem persists.

I'm replacing the fuel pressure regulator and vacuum line this coming weekend.

If that doesn't fix it I'm at a loss other than to look at the Mass Air Sensor flap and make sure that's well lubricated. I'll get back to you if the problem goes away.

Cheers, M
