I've been fighting a rough running engine for the last couple of days. Went through the fuel system as best I could, checked for air leaks, vac line problems, fuel line obstructions, tank check valve & pump, throttle sensor etc. Today I checked the fuel pressure & it was steady at 36psi.

Checked a few threads on here disconnected & reconnected EFI module. Voila, problem solved. Now I just need to source some of that Deoxy stuff & do a thorough cleaning. Funny, I've never had a fuel injected bike & was worried that something like this would happen & I wouldn't be able to figure it out. Somehow the bike seemed to know this & provided me with a good tutorial! I think I'm going to like this Beast!

Nice work Red! I think it was TWB who said with these ol girls it is often the simple things that fix it. Smile

Aint that the truth! I'm a diesel/refrigeration mechanic & every once in a while, still get burned by an internally corroded run/stop switch. At least on those machines, I'm completely familiar. Electronic fuel injection is a whole new animal!

It's great to have a fantastic resource such as this... blows away any service manual I've buried my nose in.

nice find red .....i guess its the old "when in doubt...unplug everything ....(um logically of corse ) and then plug it back in ....noticing the changes"...

i really dont think these bikes are beyond it ....just certain parts need to refreshed ....concidering their age ..."electronically" ..and "rubber" wise

just a thought ....when was the last time you actually replaced the dried out capacitors and electronic gizmos that our engine managment systems rely on ....???

crikey you would be hard pressed to find many modern day "puters" ...lasting any where near as long ....
and we do like putting these beasts though every possible enviromental challenge available .....grin

Well done Red,
as for sourcing DeoxIT look on their web site and either buy direct or go through a distributor. http://store.caig.com/
