Hi all,

Has anyone removed the pivot rod that holds the gear change arm to the gear box. I have removed the circlips.
THe book said pull out to the left. but guess what its solid. i have used wd40, hit it with a hammer but hard to hit due to engine casing being in the way having to hit at an angle.

My questiion is Help. Ok question is do i have to really whack the thing out with a hammer or is there an safer way.

Thanks john

What exactly are you trying to remove? Your picture shows the clutch lever at the back of the gearbox. If it is this, then you would be well advised not to "really whack the thing" as you run the risk of breaking the lugs that hold it to the back of the gearbox. Last year I had to cut the shaft on one with a 4 1/2 inch angle grinder to remove it. I had no choice as it was so siezed up I couldn't even shift the remains of the shaft out of what was left of the lever afterwards. You end up sacrificing the lever, but a used one from Motorworks is a lot cheaper than a gearbox.

Thanks Avenger,

Unless someone comes up with a safe way i will just leave it alone as it was only to clean the inside of the gear box of the black paint. not worth it for the cost of the damage i may do.
