The time has come for me to sell my K100. Three years ago I slipped and fell injuring my hip and it has gotten harder and harder to ride my K.I turned 75 back in April and have been wrestling with the idea of selling this bike since. When I first got her back in 2015 I joined this forum and never could have learned what I needed to work on it without the help I received here .The bike had about 12,000 miles on it when I got it and after I brought her back to life I rode her often. Traveled on her and took good care of her. Here is a link to the Craigslist ad Craigslist ad . The bike is located in Long Island , New York and I'm open to reasonable offers . She's a good running motorcycle that can be ridden as is .1988 K100 RS For Sale Dsc03015

Sorry to hear you're moving on.  But I understand.  I am turning 76 in a few weeks and since I was sick last year I have yet to get up the nerve to move my brick from where it's parked in the garage.

Best of luck wherever the roads may take you.

Thanks for the kind words. If the bike was a little lighter and lower to the ground I'd still be out there wandering on her but with my leg that's just not possible. The good news is that I can still ride my Moto Guzzi 850-T and my smaller 2 stroke Yamahas so it's not all that bad for me. I just have problems backing the K up and maneuvering it in tight spots and forget about getting it up on the center stand so rather than dropping it and screwing it all up I decided to pass it on to someone who can enjoy it for the great bike it is. I looked at an early 90's K75 dual sport but it didn't feel any different so I passed.

I know where you're coming from. Although I'm ten years younger than you, there have been times when I've eyed up LFB and thought 'you're getting a bit heavier than I'd like'. At least we both still have Guzzis to play with! Very Happy

Someone's going to obtain a clean, low mileage machine to enjoy in the future after your TLC. Let's hope they keep it the way it is, not chopping it to bits in an effort to make it "their own."

I hope you'll consider dropping in to the forum from time to time to contribute. Please don't be a stranger.

At a local rally recently, the 80 year old who accepted the "Oldest Rider" award grabbed the mic from the host and said, "You don't give up riding because you grow old, you grow old because you give up riding." To much applause from the, albeit, younger audience.

It is indeed hard to let go. I shall be 81 soon and the 75 seems heavier and higher than just last year.. I may sell it. Not wanting to stop riding I may go lighter. Breaks my heart, I winned for years about getting a k 75. Accepting is hard, you are not alone.

Yeah, for some reason the Guzzi is manageable. The seat is lower to the ground, the center of gravity is lower and it's somewhat lighter. But, who knows, if the K doesn't sell I'll still ride her as long as my messed up leg allows and I will certainly enjoy that.

Oh I'm not going anywhere ! Well, that's not entirely true, I am planning on riding my Guzzi 850-T down to southern Virginia to a meet at a motorcycle-only campground in late September. Like that 80-year-old guy, I'm going to ride right out of this life if I have any say in the matter and yes, I will still be here sharing what I learned from all the great people on this site.

Yes, accepting is hard to do but easier if you have other smaller lighter bikes to ride. I'm fortunate, I kept all of my old 2 strokes, my guzzi, and this project BMW R60/5 to play with in my old age and just recently in the last couple years anyway I picked up a Yamaha YJ1. This was the first bike that I got on back in 1965 when I was 16 years old. I'm gonna try to end with it if I make it into my late 80's. I'll never stop until I draw my last breath1988 K100 RS For Sale Yj110

Since we're reminiscing, my first "proper" motorbike wasn't actually a motorcycle, but a late-'60s Yamaha step-thru, 50cc two stroke scooter with three speed semi-auto gearbox and valanced mudguards.

Of course, being 13 or 14 years of age, I pissed off those ugly fenders and spooned on some semi-knob tyres, replacing the skinny corded street tread tyres, the better for bush bashing. I bounced that poor thing off sandy berms, over rotting logs, delivering the daily newspaper in my neighbourhood, and through the forest to school, strategically avoiding the police several times. Licence? Registration? What was that for?!

It was a learning experience in keeping something running, and set me up for my later motorbiking mechanics, that of avoiding bloody temperamental two strokes. Four strokes for me (almost) from then on. I did own a Suzuki GT380 triple for a spell. But that was all it was, a spell, easily broken.

From there, the steps were, a 1976 Kawasaki KZ400, a '76 Honda CB360T, my first Beemer, a 1970 R60/5, then the '77 R75/7, which now sports 1,000cc Nikasil pistons & cylinders, 40mm carbies, & 40mm exhaust, which I still own to this day.

But they were feckn quick and very smooth if you got them on song properly. Drank petrol like it owned its own oil field, mind.

I had two of them.

Petrol was barely .69c a gallon when I owned it so it wasn't a big deal at the time. Yes, they were quick. I lost my licence to drive/ride in a neighbouring state for six months "because" of it.

Yesterday I removed the ad from Craigslist for my K100. I've decided to keep it for as long as I can ride it. In the last three days, I put a bit over 300 miles on her and fell back in love. It is like a disease, once you catch it it's hard to get over it! Today I did 150 miles and my leg isn't bothering me all that much so I'm going to keep pushing myself and see where it goes . She's getting new brakes this weekend and a new front tire next week. I'm hoping to travel with her in late September.

I was wondering whether you'd sold the bike, and actually downloaded the picture into my phone so I could daydream/look at it from time to time. There is something-something about the lines of an 8V K100RS that gets to my moto core. I miss my own, gone nearly two years now, but to a very good home.

I'm glad to hear you're giving it another go. Ride on! Later on, let's revisit whether you'll decide again to part with it.
