Hello! I just bought a 1985 K100RS and am turning it into a cafe racer. It is currently in many pieces as I get rid of the rust on the frame and clean and paint the engine. I look forward to talking and learning with everyone here. My current ride is a K1300R which I love dearly. Have a great holiday.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks. Just got the wiring harness off the engine and will start the clean up soon. Fuel rail doesn't seem to want to come off...hmm.

That only has 2 10mm bolts, no other bolted or mechanical fixings, if its not coming off after you remove the bolts its only being held by sticky injector seals [O rings]. Nothing to break, just rock it a bit. You will be replacing the seals in any event.

Clean all the crud off first so you dont get it falling in through the injector holes. Vacuum cleaner job, I use one first to clean off around the seals but also to remove anything as I am removing the rail. The injectors are likely to come off with the rail but not always, there are no fixings to the rail, just the O rings.

Thanks Olaf, will spray a little wd40 on them before I try the rocking technique.  Very Happy

Hmmm. I'd dispute the 'nothing to break' statement. At the very worst the end of the injector will break off in the engine block but that's easily and carefully hooked out with a small screwdriver. I had two break on me recently while pulling a fuel rail out.

Thanks Dai, I ordered 4 ‘new’ injectors. With my luck I’m sure I’ll break at least one and I’m sure at least one no longer works. Guy I bought it from never had it running but bike looks in great condition. 50,000km on it.

The injectors are likely to come off with the rail but not always, there are no fixings to the rail, just the O rings.
The injectors are attached to the fuel rail with clips. You'll have to remove them first before trying to pull them out of the rail.

Hey David, I got them on eBay. The cheap Chinese ones didn't have the correct part number even though they said they fit. Don't feel like rolling those dice. Rolling Eyes

Thanks David, I found out that there is a ‘diesel’ shop near me that cleans injectors to spec. Of course I heard that after I bought the new ones. I’ll keep it in mind if my other K bike (K1300R) needs it.  study
