Hey all. Here to learn/research. I've been riding Japanese bikes for the entirety of my riding life but have always been interested in a K75. So... maybe it's time to sell what I have (a Versys 650) and replace it with a K.

Ha nice. Well I'm really used to the reliability factor of my bike. I take care of it and it does the same for me. BUT... from what I read of the K75, it behaves in a similar fashion. Plus... the K75 just looks amazing. Particularly the S and C models.

Seems reliability is good, and parts may be a bit more expensive when needed but still available.

Welcome!

The K75 engine, when maintained properly, is stone reliable and very smooth running.  You can literally run it at 70+mph all day(24 hours).  I know because I've done it.  A properly cared for brick will easily go well over 150,000 miles.  40 to 50k is considered the break in period.

Parts are not that much of a problem.  If you need new, MaxBMW sells at list, but doesn't charge sales tax or for shipping.  Also, because of a lot of bikes being parted out these days, there is a plethora of used parts on eBay where a little shopping can often find good deals.  If you have a few tools and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty, there is a ton of good information here and on the web that will get you through pretty much any problem you might have.

Thanks for this. My riding tends to be longer-distance type rides. I'm not afraid of mechanical things; I quite prefer it actually. I'll be in lurking/learning mode as I seek out a suitable bike. Leaning toward the S variant.
