My new project, the RT, had a seized fuel pump which I succcessfully revived using info posted on this site. However, when gently knocking the unit back into the casing, I broke both armature brushes. Anyone know of a replacement for the brushes?

No answers...

Here's what I would do (based on not having seen the said brushes).

Are the leads on the brushes soldered on? Can you desolder the brushes and take them to a parts-supply shop and see if they have something close to the size you need?
Then it may be possible to get a Dremel type tool to grind them down to size and resolder them?

I haven't seen anywhere that you can get the brushes by themselves (I gather that you already know this...).

That's my suggestion.

An 'Oh, shit' moment for sure. I've had one or two of those. Good luck sorting it, and please let us know if you have any luck sourcing some.

Oh, I'll beat this. Just annoying is all. The one thing I've found on these bikes is they are repairable/serviceable to a great degree, and this forum gives excellent support.

Sourced a couple of starter brushes for a Harley, RCP brand, number H12. Needed just a little filing to fit into the brush holders. The pump spins up nicely now, and hopefully will generate pressure once its re-installed.

NOTE: Those brushes will file down very quickly given their soft composition.

Yes they do.

They also won't put up with being clamped in a vice so you can file them Embarassed Found that one out the hard way the first time I tried to adapt some generic brushes purchased from an auto electrican for the starter of my GSX1100. Had to turn straight around and drive the 20km back to town to buy another brush....

just a suggestion... can we have an area for "solved" bits that are deemed important for us all, but don't quiet make the "tutorial" format or category.
