It's a rainy and cold sunday here and I've been looking for over an hour for this parking light upgrade, but could not find it.
I do remember that somebody had removed the bulb and that warped 'reflector' strip inside the headlight and had installed a LED strip in that very place.

Does anyone remember this post?
If I am not completely wrong, it was an reply to something related, not a post on it's own.

Thank you very much

If you have the Rs/Rt rectangular headlight it is quite easy as the glass lens simply unclips from headlight body.
I used a 180mm led strip with a support block behind to align correctly all held with double sided tape.

Rick, thank you

Michael,
thank you very much, especially as you've added two pictures.
That's just what I was looking for.
What exactly ist this 'support block behind to align correctly' ?
I could not recognize any details on the second pic.
Did you just connect this strip with the OEM wires or does it need a resistor?

Will need a simple resistor on that, about 470 Ohm will do the job.

I did that LED strip thing 6 or 7 years ago.  Pretty easy. I removed the light bulb and it's socket and installed a strip of white LED's with a piece of foam behnd them to press them up against the glass.

I've been through a couple variations over the years.  In the latest, I mask off the surface of each LED and spray the strip black to make it less visible through the headlight lens. This eliminates the need for the foam mask around the LED's.

The strips have solder pads every three LEDs and you can cut them there and attach wires that I feed out through the hole the original light was installed in.  The electrical connections are made with crimp on spade connectors.

Happy to help Bad Boy.
As Point Seven Five said, a spacer behind the led strip moves the strip closer to the glass and gives a better alignment leaving space for power cable behind.

Not sure of a need for a resistor, the strip I used seems to be working fine connected direct to supply. I didn't think the bulb monitor checked front park light so no problem there.

I've done it also, but with a different led bar, min has 6 equally spaced LEDs on a plastic "chassis". Like the others have said, remove the class from the headlight and remove the internals from the old park light then replace with the LED bar using whatever is required (mine is glued into place).

Also gives you the opportunity to clean the inside of the headlight for better light.

LED bars wich are already automotive don't need a resistor, the ones that were battery operated need a resistor.
