After tracking down the various superseded variations of the above part number, which end up as 46 63 2 309 169, it appears to be a generic piece of undefinable, heat screening plastic for the forward area of the fairing on various models...gorio wrote:Looks like a

The "ignition brain" on 8V K100 is the small, grey box right at the back of the steering head, forward edge of the fuel tank. If you mean the ECU, that resides atop the battery right under the rider's portion of the seat.
Look closely at the piece you're trying to sort out for any indication of a BMW part number, often just the last seven digits, sometimes accompanying a circle with dots and digits indicating a year (in the centre) and month of build.

No, I meant the ignition brain.

Sorry, I realize now that I wasn't clear. I don't actually have the part to look at (the picture is from some random YouTube video). But it looks like 46631453057 is what I'm looking for (or close enough).
Thanks!

Thanks Arlina, I know about realOem, but this part in particular doesn't seem to show up anywhere in the parts file ('86 K100RS). Add to that the fact that I don't actually own this bike, and it just makes the part even harder to find (unless you know exactly where it is already in the parts file).

Go to realoem, or any online ETK, type in the last 7 digits of either of the provided part numbers in previous posts on this thread above, and you will see the part discussed. You can even choose which model K to look at.

Which is great if you have the part number. Which I didn't have.
What's an "ETK"?
