I have acquired a 1985 K100 engine, that had previously fitted to a hovercraft. I intend to fit into a new hovercraft.

Welcome to the forum.

A number of years ago, we had an Irish member who had a K100 engined hovercraft.

Hi all, not sure if this is the right place to post, but this is the hovercraft that the K100 is going in, I've set up on a frame, connected all the obvious cables fuel pump, water cooling and and exhaust, when I try to start it turns over for 1 second pauses for 2 seconds then turns over again, this repeats all the time I press the star button, If I disconnect the hall sensor the starter runs continuously with the button pressed, I'm at a loss.

Does the start button go directly to the coil of the start relay?

Is the start button getting power from the battery?

Yes the starter switch has a live supply and the relays operate, but the starter only runs properly when the hall sensor plug is disconnected

Okay, let's try this again.  Simple yes or no answers are best.  I'm not the sharpest tool in the drawer and never owned a hovercraft.  I don't have any background on your machine and the way it's wired.

Does the start button get power directly from the positive terminal of the battery?

Is there a dedicated wire from the battery positive to the button?

Does the button have a dedicated wire that runs directly to the coil terminal on the start relay?

Does the other coil terminal on the start relay go directly to ground with it's own wire?

Do the Hall Sensors have any connection to the starter button wires?

Are there any start interlocks to prevent accidental starting?

Is there a wiring diagram of the machine that you can post here?
