Good deal on tires for Canadians.
I had been toying with the idea of new tires for my 92 K100rs and when I found these I jumped
120/70/17 and 160/60/18 road 3's to my door $340 Canadian.
I do realize that they are discontinuing the Road 3 but still thought it a good deal. revco.ca if you are wondering.

It may not be too big a deal for you, but recently I ordered in some Conti Road Attack Evo 2 for my K1300GT from a reputable mid-west US dealer. I got a 'smokin' deal, as they say. I knew before they arrived they'd be a bit dated, how else can these companies sell them for so little? US$188 delivered in 120/70ZR17 & 190/50ZR17 sizes. Sure enough, the rear tyre was dated late '14 and the front mid-2016. It's not like a loaf of bread but they can go 'off' after years in storage.

i am not expecting them to be last month production but I would be disappointed if they are five years old. As more place ban tire over five years old it has raised awareness to old tires. i will more then likely burn them off over this summer and perhaps part of next year so if they are a couple of years old I am not to concerned. If they are more the three years old they will likely be returned. I will post when they arrive.
Tires are expensive in Canada. In BC I also pay 12% sales tax as well as $10/ tire enviro fee. Ordering from the US looks cheap until you add freight, customs brokerage, duty and taxes. You also lose the warranty for what that's worth.

How did the Conti's work out, did you run them or return them?

I haven't spooned the Contis* on to the spare set of wheels yet and I'm not terribly concerned about their freshness date since these were
pre-Covid-19 trip plan tyres. Basically, burners so I don't waste my Dunlop Roadsmart III on a flat roads all the way to the twisties sort of ride. My RS in OZ has a Michelin Pilot Road 3 up the front and, gasp, Pilot Road 2 out back. I ride it every year, sometimes every two years, and it's not caused me any harm so far. I'll bet they're seven or eight years old by now. One of my K1100RS has a set of Bridgestone BT016 which it came with. They're 'brand new' but six years old. When carrying my precious pillion I keep a newish set of rubber under me. Since I don't work in the bike biz any longer - I do miss those heavy discounts and saleman's freebies - I pay what everyone pays, so there I am searching the deals where ever I find 'em.

*Had a closer look and one of them's even older than I had originally written.

In case anyone was wondering how this came out.
Front tire production date 2518 so June 2018.
Rear tire production date 1718 so April 2018.

Not brand new but not bad. I will assume they have sat in temperature controlled storage away from UV light.

I think I could safely ride on them for three or four years. Hopefully they will be worn out before then.

Looking forward to having them mounted.

They're fresh enough if dated 2018. When I worked at various moto dealerships we'd order in from the distributor and get year old to three year old rubber regularly. As long as they didn't sit on my shelf for another year we were good to go. I have no issue with burning off a set off tyres on my own bikes that are dated five years old. Big Block has late-2014 Pirellis on her that I bought in 2015 and have yet to wear out. I'd better get riding her more.

But....if I was doing a sporting trackday on a Ducati or S1000RR for sure I'd want fresh squeezed.

Has anyone had experience with the new Bridgestone Battleax BT46 which is to replace the BT45?  I've been running BT45 and have had no issues and will be needing a set of tires probably by the end of the season.
The Road 3 don't come in a size for my 89 RS.

Gorio, I ride up to Courtenay from Nanaimo every couple of weeks.  I'll be on the lookout for a white RS.

If you like laser light show beats & screeching guitar riffs, here's what Bridgestone think of their new (Battlax BT46) product.

Beemer a Guzzi & a Honda go for a low-speed ride

Well, that video told me absolutely nothing about the tires.  Nice bikes, but I've never met anyone that looks like those riders.
The biggest thing I got from reading the literature was that they are about the same as the BT45, but with slightly better handling in the wet.  I suppose that's good.

Modern advertising. All about the feel, as in how you might imagine yourself feeling. Nothing about the taste, smell or nutrition.

G'day all, TWB is spot on about advertising. Marketing is all about selling the sizzle and not the steak.

The only thing I got from that video is the Guzzi was the most expensive bike, followed by the BMW and leaving the Honda somewhere in the pennies jar. Unless they were trying to imply that the tyres are good for classics and modern bikes?

What are they going to say?  That the BT45 molds are worn out and that they have new molds with a different tread pattern and sidewall graphics for the same carcass construction and compound.
