Greeting from the work-at-home office!
About a year ago, in a stroke of stupidity, I sold my 85 K100RT and picked up an R80RT. While the airhead is a nice machine, it isn't as fun as the K bikes.

So here I am, looking to move the R80 and find another K while stuck around home (but not likely an RT again).

Aside from that, current status: My eyes are bleeding from reading/grading G-code submissions from students and trying to figure out how we'll make up so much lost shop time.

My .02 - Get a K1100LT this time. Better power, brakes and suspension.  (Not to mention the cool electric windscreen.)

And the resale on them is crap which means it's a great deal for buyers.

The K1100LT is light years better. It has 30 year old technology vs. 38 year old technology.  lol!

I have K1100LT ABS too, a K100LT ABS and also a 1983 K100RS that I took to Kedada Alicante and did 520 miles in one day from Bilbao to Alicante.

I had always said I didnt ever see me on an RS...but I love it. The K1100LT is definitely a mile muncher and a brute but having taken the others on equal trips its hard to say any of them is better, just different. The early RS really eats miles and is a much less busy bike to ride. Those early Ks with the engineering screws are the ones to get.

In 10 years my guess is I put 130,000 miles on them all.

I'm equal opportunity, so a K1100 isn't off the table at all. But the RT fairing absolutely wrecked my knees, not quite wide enough gap between the tank and fairing to get squeezed in there with the Canyon seat keeping me in one spot.

What engineering screws?

I've got three of them 2X84 1X85

Is there something I've missed?

They pushed the fairing forward by 1+" when they did the K1100LT so there's more knee room.

If you're referring to a Corbin Dual Canyon seat they aren't all exactly the same. Some have a longer (farther back) rider position than others.

They have a couple of extra screws on the valve cover, nothing to do with securing the cover. FYK's had hotter cams ( Euro spec intake cam) except for California and outperformed the late ones. Post a picture of your valve cover.
Regards Martin.

Welcome Milq Smile

I have the K1100RS with LT fairing fitted, good bike.
My just started project is a K75, wich will become a K75LT.
K11 front, rear, and fairing complete, gives me bit more space at the knees.

Someone else contacted the seller to see it's a 16v drivetrain in an older frame.

That's a WEIRD bike. Y-spoke wheels, monolever FD but a 4V valve cover which means it could have a 4V engine.

4v valve cover doesn't fit on a 2V engine......

I'd like to see it but Cycle Trader are lazy gits and can't be bothered to comply with GDPR.

Okay - that gave it the finger. I pointed my VPN at Canada instead of Switzerland. Yup - that definately looks odd.
