Hello Everybody.  I rode to work for a half day and my 85 K100RS runs smooth as silk.  I parked in the shade and left her on the side stand.  About 4 hours later I saddle up and she starts but is firing on maybe 3 cylinders.  She's running so badly Im a bit afraid to ride, but since its only 7 km to my garage I give it a go, even though she starts to die out above 2500 rpm and wants to stall at an rpm closer to idle speed.  Its down hill or flat most of the way so ok here goes.  We struggle up the first grades using the gears to keep the load at a minimum we get to the summit and I release the throttle and let her mostly coast to the flats (about 1 km).   About 1 km farther she is firing on maybe 2 cylinders and I know I wont have enough power to cross the busy highway to get home.
On this side road there is a dirt yard mechanic shed, so I pull in and struggle to keep her running.  She finally dies so Im glad to be here as I dont have an idea of what could be wrong.  The jefe fiddles with wire connections and hose clamps for a bit to no affect, then pulls off the injector rail and tells me to start her up.  I hit the button and she immediatly starts and revs to 7500 rpm and I lunge for the kill switch.  Everybody smiles, he re installs the injectors I start the motor and ride home...smooth as silk.  In my garage I pull her up on the center stand and give thanks.  This morning she will not start.
I live in Nicaragua and my Spanish is pretty good, but the jefe's rapid explanation of the problem was way above my skill level.  What do you Think ??

I would send you to my excellent moto mechanic mate Santiago down in San Juan Del Sur but he's just home from a week-plus in hospital in Managua after a sudden meeting with a truck that crossed his path at 60mph. He's healing well after a terrible smash, but won't be fiddling or twiddling spanners for a spell yet.

Your title indicates that you think it's flooding.

First thing I'd do is pull/inspect the spark plugs to see if they are wet to confirm that flooding is your issue.

A bad temperature sensor or connection is a known source of flooding. As suggested pull the plugs if they are wet allow them to dry out for 10 min. Remove the fuel pump fuse #6 Krafftstoppe and replace the plugs. Try and start the bike there should be enough residual fuel in the combustion chamber for the engine to run with a bit of throttle manipulation, albeit roughly. As the engine starts to die ram the fuse back in, it helps if you have a helper. You should be able to keep it running with a bit of throttle manipulation.

If this works you need to test the sensor/connection. I've had this happen twice in 20+ years, first time I managed to limp home running rough, using the above method. Second time after again using the above method I managed to get my hand into where the sensor resides and wiggle the connector around and it was fine. After that I pulled the sensor and cleaned the threads and connector and applied dielectric grease around the connector to stop water and road crap from entering. Do not apply thread tape or sealant to the sensor threads it requires a good earth to function.
Regards Martin.
