Last winter I took my bike apart and rebuild it as a cafe racer as some people would call it.

The bike was pretty much done, but when is a project done? I don't know. There is always something to be changed, so I decided to split the bike apart for the second time and paint the whole engine since the season ended in November in Denmark.
I don't have the bike at my home address, so unfortunately I can't, work on it every week.

Here is some pictures of the build so far

Looking good Tommy.

With the amount of cleaning and polishing on that bell housing and the top of the engine block I'd say you have been spending too much time reading Charlie's project thread.

Cheers

Haha thanks I appreciate it.
I think the engine looks more polished than it actually is. I spent some hours with brake cleaner and a toothbrush, but honestly the "shine" comes from just 5 minutes of work with a wire brush and I think the light is just reflecting on the block.
No one is at charlies level lol!

Some progress from the weekend with cleaning inside the clutch housing, gearbox and the oil sump. Clutch housing was pretty filthy since the outputshaft seal was leaking, so next step is to press in the new seal.
Then wire brush every thing and soda blast the corners where the wire brush can't get to.

I also got some new parts. Went looking for just a master cylinder and I came out with a k1200 wheel, 2 master cylinders and 2 awesome calipers and a shock and a couple of small parts for a complete steal.

Easily half the labour or more on a project/restoration is cleaning I think.  Looks great Tommy, thank you for posting.

Yep, I think most of the work is cleaning, during a restoration. But also painting! I feel like there always is something to paint affraid
Finally I have made some progress and I plan to have the bike ready for the easter holiday.
The engine was brushed with a wire brush and the soda blasted to clean the small places the wire brush couldn't reach.
The outputshaft seal was replaced, after the engine was painted and the clutch is installed as well.

I cleaned the injectors with a ultrasonic cleaner, and fitted new o-rings to make them seal properly. The bike is  coming together now, after 7-8 months split in pieces. It's a good feeling!

Yes, A LOT. I think it would be devastating to count hours Very Happy I have skipped posting pictures at every state of the process.

Here is the current state: Not driving.. It left me stranded on the test run after 10 minutes. It ran great but suddenly it ran on 2 cylinders and could barely pull it self. I haven't had the time to check it, but I'm pretty sure it's the injectors.. Smile
