Hi all, I love this forum. It has so much great information. But I have pretty much given up on using it because it takes several minutes for each post or page to load. It will usually take up to 20 minutes to load k-100-forum.com in the first place, then 2 or 3 minutes for anything I click on after that.

This is true on both my Macbook Pro, and my iPad, in both Google Chrome and Safari browsers. I don't have this problem on any other website that I have ever encountered. I have high speed connections, so that isn't the issue. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a particular browser that will work with the K100 Forum?

I'm also concerned about the fact that this forum always displays a "not secure" warning. But if I could just use the thing, I'd risk it.

Thanks for any help that could be offered.

The "not secure" thing isn't a big deal. It just means it's easier for others to monitor what you read and post.  Since it's an open forum other apps/bots/etc..  can see what you post anyhow and you shouldn't be posting your credit card numbers and Social Security Number. here in the first place.

You shouldn't have speed issues loading this forum since it's mostly text with minimal graphics. I live in the boonies so I have antique 1.5M DSL and it works fine for me.

I don't enough about Apple stuff to know why one particular site would cause issues but a workaround might be to try a free proxy server to see if that works faster.

Thanks. It took about 2 minutes for your reply to load. I usually click on something I want to see, then just go do something else until it loads. It's ridiculous. I generally have an 80 to 100 mbps connection both up and down, so I have plenty of bandwidth.

Even after a page partially loads, enough so I can read it, It may take 10 minutes or more for the progress bar to complete, and sometimes it never does. As you said, it's almost all text, and I don't have this problem on any other website.

I'll do some more research, but ideas are welcome.

Try Firefox.

I guess I neglected to include Firefox. I've tried it, it's the same. The only one I haven't tried is IE, but it's not supported anymore, so that doesn't really do me much good.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Just FYI, the tech pages come up instantly, which is great, but the discussion forum is impossible. I'm meeting with a friend tomorrow that is an internet and networking guru. I'll show him how this works and see if he has any ideas.

I also just downloaded and tried Microsoft's new browser of iOS, same deal. In fact it flat refused to connect to the site. I dunno.

Cheers

If it's exhibiting the same behavior on multiple devices and browsers then it could be an issue with your router.  Is there a way to get your router back to a "clean" factory state?

Good thought. I will run that by my tech guy tomorrow. It's just that it only happens on this one site. I wondered if there is some problem between this site and my provider for some reason. I could call them and ask. Everything else is nearly instant, and I have been having this problem since I first signed up last summer. I just finally decided to put some time into it and try to figure it out. Since our highs are in single digits, and the ground is covered with snow and ice, all the bikes are sound asleep right now.

To be clear, I'm not complaining, just perplexed. If no one else is having this issue on a mac or iPad, then it is obviously something on my end.

Are you using a VPN?  I am running ipVanish, and there was a setting in it that slowed to a crawl my video streaming.  Wish I could remember what it was.

Try this link Website Speed Test for comparisons to other sites that appear to load faster. Be sure to click (and un-click) your appropriate location as shown. I am using Chrome with a whole passel of ad, anti-tracking as well as pop-up blockers & www.k100-forum.com loads quite quickly.

Indeed perplexing! affraid

I access the forum on several iPads, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac Mini, desktop PC, laptop PC. Occasionally even on the iPhone.

In all cases, loading pages, refreshing, navigating through the site is comparable with other sites on the same device at the same time.

Consequently, I don’t think it’s the site itself, but another factor in the path.

Hope a solution is found. I’d be very sad if the site was as unusable as you are finding.

Bill

Sometimes you need to remedy this situation from several angles. Consider this information.

Thank you, but as I've said repeatedly, my browser(s) are not slow at all. ONLY on this forum. I never see this anywhere else, and I spend a lot of time on various sites.

I'm glad I can get the tech pages. I'll probably just leave it at that.

"My tech guy" had me turn off the wifi on my iPhone while sitting here, and try the site on cellular data. It blazes right in. So it is either a problem with my router as was suggested, or more likely a problem with my IP, although they will never admit it. I have the same provider at the office and at home, and the same problem at both locations. I am sending this web address to two individuals that are smart about web stuff to see if they can figure it out.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think we are zeroing in on the problem.

Have you tried logging in on a different router?  Of course, that different router might be working on a different system.  But it's worth a try.

I have the same experience as Bill with MacBook Pro (Safari), iPad and occasionally iphone6 (I select the web application as it brings up the familiar forum format). My MacBook is now celebrating its 10th birthday and tends to run at the speed of cold molasses, but that is nothing to do with the forum - it does it for all sites. Probably needs a good clean out as the hard disc is virtually full. You have about 10x the download speed as I get with my deceitful ‘super fast fibre boost’ broadband (offer 40-60Mb/s but delivers about 16Mb/s).

Sorry can’t help...and for wasting another 30 mins of your time trying to open this reply!!!
lol!

Ha! And that is exactly what happened. Now another half hour to send a reply!

I went to my service provider and told them what is going on. They tried to bring up this site, and it was the same thing, extremely slow. The girl that was there couldn't figure it out, but she is getting some of their tech guys on it. They have something blocked that is messing with me. I have the same service at home. The site works fine everywhere else. We are in a small town, and they have been out working on a big installation. I just need to go back by there. Eventually they will get what ever it is straightened out.

Just thought I would update this. Our local provider has spent the last several weeks tracking down the problem that would not allow me to use this forum. I can't even explain the problem but it involved several layers of providers. They finally got it working this morning. I'm amazed that they followed through all this time to get this working for one customer.

So, good news, I can access everything and it takes a blink for the pages to load!
cheers
