Out for a good prance about on my K100.

My buddy on an R3 gave it a rev while waiting for the light to change.

Off we went then I felt the power cut out.... the back on.

Took it to a big parking lot and same thing. Under steady but hard acceleration the engine cuts for a second or 2 then back on. Feels as though the injectors cut to prevent redline but know where near.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Sounds like an air leak between the MAF and manifolds on the head.

Air leak.  Z tube between airbox and crankcase breather?  How old is it?

I still beat the r3 incidentally.

I like the idea of an air leak as the bike has been running rich.

Don’t know what a Z tube is but, I’ll look at figuring out.

Is there a possibility of the pressure reg. Not performing properly?

When the power cut the rpms drop the power comes on again without further interruption.

Need PO to state year of his K bike as some RS are 2v. There is no ICU on the 4v engines.

But early K100 gas tank connector is a suspect high on the list.

It's a 1990 RS.

Click on the Profile tab on the top of this page and enter your moto's model and year in the Signature section, Canadakbike, so members won't need to chase around looking for it.

Olaf are you referring to the hose crimp connector at the tank?

The power drop and pick up are immediate. During the power down applying more gas does nothing. When the power comes back on arms rip off.

Replaced plugs this morning. I had new ones for this season. Raining now so will wait till later to test. Going over other suggestion now.

Check the four pin fuel tank/pump connector.  Major source of power on/off engine issues.

Later ones fail too. I know of a few K1100s where that happened.
