Was riding with the sun behind me today with full glare on the instrument pod. The rev counter froze and the speedo became very sluggish. Eventually with change of direction, back  in the shade and within seconds normal service resumed. The fault re appeared when exposed to the sun again. What would cause this, its never happen'd before.

Had the same issue some years ago where the temperatures frequently got to the mid 40s C. The speedo face warped and the needle got stuck at different angles and different times of the day. The tacho needle got stuck on the glass/plastic every now and then. Good luck.

I fixed my tacho needle sticking last week, it was hitting the glass. It had been sitting in the sun before it happened.
Regards Martin.

MY K1100RS speedo also does this but only when sun is shining. Normally in Ireland this is not an issue  Cool

I don't think the needle is catching but something in the internals. The speedo will stick and stay about 80kmh.

That usually sorts itself if you change up into second gear  (o)
