As mounted in the Brick with LED lighting. If you want to go the whole hog, clear windows in the covers and have it electrically driven.

Have leds in each bore pulsing like as if the pistons are going up and down.

I like the idea of cylinders facing up with a glass top and then as suggested by Stan, pulsing red/orange leds at a variable RPM in proper firing sequence.

had already thought of flashing leds up the bores , i have a sequencer that i use for testing injectors , will use the same circuit board for this one , possibly with different coloured leds  ?
and a couple of 7.5 amp 12v batteries i acquired recently , just right to be hidden in the crank area , with a neat plug for charging periodically 

a couple have said ( in another place )  horizontal bores as bmw designed it  making the mounting for the base plate pretty easy indeed 

 i had a thought of some clear bottles of appropriate size to fit in the bores,  as if it was a wine rack ?


 i also had thought of the upright bore idea  

still a bit concerned about the hump height over the alternator - sprag area ....hmmmmm

One would definitly need a minimum of a 6 cylinder for the winerack, preferably a v-12.

I'm thinking like one of those cut away models with a head covering two cylinders and a crank handle on the crankshaft. I recon the brick is asking to be a cut away model. When you turn the handle you'd see piston and valve movement on one side, con rod and crankshaft movement on the opposite side, cam chain and pump movement on the front, clutch basket movement at the rear, and output shaft movement under (or spin it around) Needs half a head tho, or maybe just without a head.

Maybe even one piston removed for a whiskey bottle.

hmm all good thoughts ...i like the head spacing off block idea  (maybe 10 mm ) 

it will end up just being casings , with all the heavy bits of steel missing , just to make it easy to move around 

but anyhow  started cleaning up a head ........ better make the induction ports shiny , to flash good light out of there eh ?

this could take a while to make the induction side pretty , but some encouraging results ...so far

did a bit more digging around in the grease and road grime tonight after work 
still quite a bit more to do , but again showing some promising results . so far

$200.  I know I over-paid but it was such a unique item I had to have it. My wife doesn't agree.

I think that the amount you paid was well worth it for many reasons.  Most coffee tables you can't buy for less than that and then they are made out of sawdust and glue -- a substantial wonderful purchase!
