Since purchasing a K100RS several months ago as a retirement/winter project, I have been using this forum as a guest - and very useful it has been too. I felt that it would therefore be appropraite for me to register as a member.

By the way, on the admin welcome introduction, may I respectfully suggest that "himself" is changed to "themselves" where it says "....The forum's permissions have been changed. It is now MANDATORY for a new user to introduce himself in the 'Member's introduction' section...."

Everyone is equal here.... its homo sapiens and not 'man as opposed to woman', even if you are in Scotland. I think having a surname Maxwell lets me away with that one.

There are quite a few lady K owners scattered around here and have met quite a few of them. I have met the Admin too.....but he is busy right now trying to work out how to deal with a big new garage and two solitary bricks sitting in the corner....

Don't forget to pop up some photos of your bike and if you make your way down through the world famous midges of Scotland and across the North Channel you can come see our Wild Atlantic Way and meet a few really Eccentric K owners, male and female.

On a more serious note everyone is very helpful here.

Now whether a member self identifies as a him or a them is not likely to start an argument around here but whether they identify their bike as a "he" or a "she", well that could spark the longest thread ever  Twisted Evil

welcome along

88, thank you for your welcome.

I normally get referred to as she, her, miss but am quite accepting of they or themselves.

As for my bikes, they are definitely she as they have all of the best attributes of a woman, as long as you look after and resepct them. I am sure though  that many people may see masculine traits in their motorcycles or none at all, so there is no argument - each to their own, in my opinion.

WelKome Zara!  Until now I hadn't attached any gender to my bike(s), however, my wife does refer to the K100 as 'your girlfriend' so I guess that makes it of the feminine persuasion.   Very Happy  Glad you will now be participating as a regular member and I will second your motion for more gender neutral nomenclature.

Cheers!  Woodie

Hello the newbie here. Been using the forum as a visitor for about a year now while Woking on conversion of a K100RS to "cafe racer". Found the discussions and technical info invaluable in assisting with mods to the electrics in particular so thought it only right that I join up and see if I can add my tuppence worth to help out fellow bricky's. Although it seems there are many members who have much greater knowledge and experience than I. Looking forward to making connections and learning from the forum.

Its all about sharing it all.

Amazing what can surface too.

How about this...on the K1100 I discovered if you check the ABS sensor clearance you set it once and it normally stays put that's fine. BUT if you check it regularly and its reducing.........start wondering why. So, the answer appears to be it does that due to wear in the rear final drive big bearing. My sensor was worn by the wheel ring...the sensor and ring are on different sides of the bearing so if there is wear in the bearing the relationship changes....
