Hi I'm after some help with my wiring, struggling like many to understand the wiring diagram. I can appreciate It can be hard work looking at the photos and working out where they are in relation to location within the wiring loom but I think many will know what these connections are for off the top of their head.
Just need to confirm the 2 next to the h4 connector (grey and brown wire) for the lights and also the other 2 photos I've found loose on the main loom and some wires pulled from the main connection block for the lunch box I'm unsure where they were originally located. True nightmere. Many many thanks

You don't say what model K but....

1st photo looks like the regular connection for the clutch switch and the front brake light switch. There are 4 identical switches on the earlier K....plunger type for front brake, rear brake, 'choke' light and the clutch switch. Same part and interchangeable. You will find one to the left of the main tube under the gas tank and it should be clutch switch. You need this one for starting the bike in gear, no clutch switch no start. There is also another behind the right hand side panel, for the rear brake switch.

2nd photo looks like the plug for the hazard light switch, its a plug and play as its not standard but buy the switch and is works.

The green relay is flasher indicator unit.

84 k100rs sorry.
I have identified front brake switch the plunger type? So must be clutch switch? It's located under the tank on the left with 2 wires
How ever the bike does start

Hafta disagree with Olaf for once.

Second photo is the heated grips connector. The clutch connector is black/green and green/black wires (there is a difference!).

Third photo puts you truly up shit creek. The only place that I'm aware you can get replacement connectors from is Radio Spares - see this thread:

but you have to buy them in a minimum quantity of 100 for the terminals and ten for the blocks. Are the broken terminals still in the connector blocks? It should be possible to remove them by pushing a (so-called) jeweller's screwdriver down the cutout next to each broken terminal; at least then you'll only need terminals.


Fourth photo appears to be a slate (grey)/white wire. If so, it's the feed for the pilot light.

That's a big help. So the fourth photo would be grey positive and brown negative?

Still at a loss for the first photo.

Second photo heated grips makes sense I don't need this.

The third photo I'm well equipped to re end the wires if only I was sure where they went

FIRST photo is the heated grips - not fitted to the RS as standard.

Second is the hazard switch connector - not fitted to the RS as standard.

Also, post 9 here might help with the terminal colours:

The terminal numbers are embossed into the underside of the instrument panel. The uppermost connector in photo 3 is the rightside one when plugged into the instrument housing - pins 13 - 24.

I still think first photo is one of the switches......just been at mine on the RS......

Photo 1 is a mystery then? I have all the switch gear for indicators etc from handle bars ( the ones bolted to levers) all connected up and working so that kinda eliminates them. I'm wondering if it's engine related?
Location is under tank left side above intake manifold
I can it's not pressure sensor, water temp, or throttle sensor/choke

Have you traced the connections for all 4 switches where they plug into the loom...clutch, front brake, rear brake and choke?

The only K I have with heated grips is the K1100LT. None on any of the K100 ones.

Seriously though, Bert's diagram and the OEM show

clutch as black/green-green/black
front brake as green/black-slate/red
rear brake as green/black-green/slate
heated grips as black/green-brown.

It's the same main wiring loom across most of the range (I'd alike to say 'all' but I'm not absolutely certain). Even the low-bar bikes such as the RS came equipped with the 'high bar' loom complete with all the extra bits not used on the naked/RS. The excess loom was folded back on itself and taped under the tank. Good one BMW - introduce a stress point right off the production line.

I thought heated grips was a 3 wire to allow for  high/low setting...

And I have got a magic RS....its got early camshafts and is totally magic......

The power to the heated grips wiring harness is two wires.

Has anyone got a photo of the 2 connectors that go into the lunchbox from a k100rs just so I can check I've got it right. Ta!
