First thing you should try is whacking the right rear corner of the relay box (where the starter relay lives) with a crescent wrench or something. Sometimes that'll unstick a stuck starter relay.

I tried that but to no avail.
I found one on Ebay for $40.
How do you get access to the relay box? Lift the tank?

Yes. lift the rear of the tank.
I strongly recommend that you disconnect the battery ground before messing with the starter relay. One of the leads to it is hardwired to the battery and can be shorted if you're not careful.
