Hi Guys,
been around Beemers and Cafe Racers since the 60's. I retired from a lifetime [ 45 years ] business of designing and manufacturing replica cars [ Cobra, Porsche, Jag .... ]. Started my love affair with Kays 10 years ago after I retired but continued to develop parts along with my pal at Realm Engineering - who still manufactures replica C Type Jags.
Between us [ my design / his facilities ] we developed a whole range of goodies for my Kay Fighter [ and others ] - adjustable rear strut, RAMSHOX, progressive fork springs, Upswept exhaust, Hi-Po plug leads [ wires ]. Being the businessman he is - he productionised them and put them on the market.
Then 7 years ago I was diagnosed with CKD [ kidney function decline ] until 5 years ago my project had to be back burnered while my health took a dive.
Good news ? I'm now in remission from the kidney issue and the Kay comes out of forced hibernation in a couple of weeks. I still can't work at the same level of intensity before getting really fatigued .... but slowly is better than not at all.
After I developed a conversion for K1100RS forks and 5 spoke front and rear wheels - I sold the lot off when I thought I'd never get back to completing my project ........
First steps - reassembling all the parts I need - K1100RS forks, K1200RS wheels, discs, calipers. That was done in ONE WEEK thanx to E Bay ! Fortunately I still have the drawings I did for the first wheel spindle conversion and amazingly - I still have a couple of lengths of St.St. bar stock for the new spindle to be made !
So - renewed enthusiasm for my Kay project [ oh and KZ750 Twin 60's style Cafe Racer ] ..... and for life.
Apparently can't attach pix ?
