Hi. I'm Matt from Bournemouth. I recently bought a 1990 BMW K100 LT. I am converting it to a scrambler, (sort of).
I have limited knowledge of mechanics, electrics, etc, so thought it would be a good idea to get a bike as a project so that I can learn as I go. I have stripped it all down, cleaned, sprayed, replaced some parts, modified some parts and it doesn't seem to look half bad. I am now up to the electrics and finding it a bit of a mind boggler, hence the searching around on the net and the discovery of this forum.

Hi Matt

Welcome to the forum. You are in the right place for advice and info, if it wasn't for the members on here I'm not sure my ride would sill be on the road, they are a great bunch and have a collective knowledge beyond the norm. One thing I have noticed is that there is no stupid question, people just want to help and keep K bikes on the road. You'll find all the help you need!

I'm on the Isle of Wight and quite often take a ride out around the south coast, maybe we can meet up one day for a ride and chinwag.

Dave

Welcome Matt Smile

Electrics are not the easiest part of the K.
Better ask first, cut wires later Wink

OEM wiring diagrams always annoy me because they attempt to show everything 'where it is' on the bike and results in an over-complex diagram. Have a squinty at post 9 here:
