Finally found a bottle of blinker fluid....not sure whether it does 4 valve bikes though. Apparently you can get a dvd (shows how old it is) to help with the process of draining and putting in the fresh stuff.

I ordered it in England, bargain price.
Should have known better....
When I hit the left button to go left, the right blinker goes on. Right gives the left blinker.
Had to drain the whole system and clean it before fill it with right side blinkerfluid.

K bikes need to have the silicate free one.....well known issue.

This is the stuff you need for LEDs. This grade is only for right hand drive countries in the northern hemisphere, so perfect for US, Canada and mainland Europe (and Ireland on the third Sunday of the month).

In the UK and other northern left hand drive countries the ID-10T grade is no good and you need to specify grade 1 EE-J1T. They are not interchangeable as Arlina found out. To make matters more complicated, if you live in the southern hemisphere, then you must ensure that you buy the proper phased fluid for use down there. DR-0NG 0 is the recommended grade for left hand drive countries in places like Australia. However, when i was down there last time, I noticed that it was extremely expensive - a cheaper substitute is to buy northern blinker fluid for the opposite hand drive - the American stuff (only $9.99 plus shipping and handling) is perfect for use down under as the reverse side of the road and the orientation inversion combine nicely together to make left blink left and right blink right.

Caution: Flash sequence is different when using ID-10T rather than DR-0NG 0. ID-10T normally gives an output of on-off-on-off etc. but if used in southern hemisphere left hand drive countries, you will note the flash sequence is reversed to off-on-off-on etc. This is not normally a problem and many don't even notice the irregularity.

The UK one at the moment is not recommended due to this Brexit stuff in it.

The left hand and right hand don't know what they are doing and you could be all over the place.

A friend of mine ordered it from a guy in Washington.

Appreciate all the comments from other countries and members. Does anyone out there know of how long the fluid will last? 80,000 blinks or a time limit...like perhaps every 2 years? In my area I tend to do more left turns than right....will the turn switch wear out faster?
Some products promise many things but deliver little. We should consider a multinational trial of this product with periodical updates. Not sure of cost..tariffs on Chinese made fluid by the US and the UK may not being able to access the product from EU countries.

Your living in the past. Use the GPS on your iPhone 11 and link it to your Brick, then put in your route and it will flash your indicators automatically when you come to a corner. You can then remove your flasher relay and save weight. There is an update available shortly that will also operate your stop and tail lights when the phone senses you're braking or night has fallen. More features to follow.
Regards Martin

Yes, every two years, but more often in dusty environments.

We've been using this compound to restore Christmas tree and advertising sign lights for a few years. Dilute strength to obtain desired rate of blink. Wear eye protection. One of our workers learned that the hard way. Blinky is still one of our ablest employees though and a skilled mentor.

Just found out it works with IPL devices too, need 2 cans in serial to get a higher blinkrate.
3 cans is too much, the skin will burn.

1. My rear indicators have drain holes in them and I find it very expensive keeping them topped up, is it safe to plug this hole ?
2. I frequently cross the Ireland / Northern Ireland border so with Brexit coming should I be using the British or European version ?

1 NO blocking of these orifices will disturb the Vortex  that is required to maintain Blinker/Flasher rhythm
2 By using OLD MAC product cost is reduced due to its high versticular/low evaporation qualities
Being a non domisil product it is suitable for all border crossings.Available at most  good Saddleries

The new acoustic indicators eliminate the need for blinker fluid thus reducing emissions.

Continuous high/low tone for braking rising in pitch according to amount of braking being used, intermittent low tone for right turn, intermittent double high tone for left turn.

Which funnel do you put the fluid into - the top or "bottom" one ?

The fluid must be placed in the flasher can. Olaf, the acoustic version can leave you rather deflated after some time, a real bummer for those for those on long rides in cold weather. The manufacturer of the product really trumpets his success with this version but I believe he is just blowing in the wind.

I feel so silly I checked all my blinker bulbs thinking that was where the fluid went. Now I'll go check the flasher unit for a refill. Where can I go buy one of those Audible flasher units from I think the dualtone units would improve my chances by turning left or right with sound. Or soundly turning left or right.

Would it really hurt my bike if the synthetic blinker fluid is put in the non dualtone flasher unit??

How do I get the dualtone units to face the front, I don't want mine facing behind.

Hi all.

Missed you guys. Been reading even though have sold my beloved 89 SE, and intend to get another K when able.
Very grateful for all the help given here, and this community.
Saw a msg from Dai...mentioning...at least some of these folks could say, "Goodbye", when ceasing to be on the the Forum.
Wish upon all and your families, the best.
Thanks.

Crikey JimK that sounds a lot more complex than being sent off for a long weight at the store.

So did they not blink because of friction? There in lies the need for blinker fluid to help them blink. Perhaps if you are ever yarning with any of those Sargents you can offer the fluid to them.
